Relatively High Wages Amid Employment Difficulties
Expectations of Job Stability, 70% Are in Their 30s and 40s
The job of environmental field worker, which offers relatively high wages amid the employment crisis, is gaining popularity.
Changwon Special City in Gyeongnam recently announced on the 30th that 355 applicants applied for 16 positions for environmental field worker recruitment, resulting in a competition ratio of 22.1 to 1.
Applications were accepted through multiple channels for the convenience of applicants: online (August 21 to 24), mail (postmarked by August 24), and in-person submission (August 24).
A total of 234 applicants, accounting for 66%, applied via internet and mail (non-face-to-face), while 121 applicants, or 34%, submitted their applications in person. By age group, those in their 40s were the largest with 146 applicants, followed by 99 in their 30s, 65 in their 50s, and 45 in their 20s.
Amid ongoing employment difficulties, interest in environmental field workers is steadily increasing, with 30- to 40-year-old applicants making up 70% due to relatively high wages and expectations of job stability.
By gender, 293 men and 33 women applied. By region, Uichang-gu had the highest number with 44 applicants, followed by Seongsan-gu with 39, Masanhwoeon-gu with 23, Masanhappo-gu with 17, and Jinhae-gu with 13.
All applicants will undergo a physical fitness test in October, to be held at Changwon Sports Park Main Stadium (located on Wonidaero, Seongsan-gu).
The events include ▲100m sprint ▲50m sprint carrying sandbags (10 kg each side) ▲grip strength measurement. The schedule and times for each applicant’s fitness test will be separately announced on the city’s website (Notices/Recruitment Information).
Additionally, applicants who applied online or by mail can check their application numbers on the city website (City News/Notices), and admission tickets will be distributed on the day of the fitness test.
