Heavy Rain Advisory for Southern Regions 'Caution'... Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters Activated Level 1
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety announced on the 30th that, as heavy rain warnings have been expanded mainly in the Jeolla and Gyeongsang regions, the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters will activate Emergency Level 1 from 07:30 today to respond to the heavy rain, and the crisis alert level will be raised from "Interest" to "Caution."
Lee Sang-min, head of the Central Disaster and Safety Countermeasures Headquarters, instructed the following to prevent casualties and damage caused by heavy rain: ▲Households adjacent to mountainous areas, steep slopes, and embankments should complete evacuation in advance ▲If necessary, promptly request support from police, fire departments, and military units within the jurisdiction to facilitate evacuation ▲Coastal lowlands, underground roadways, riverbanks, low-lying roads, flood-prone underground spaces, and riverside parking lots should be strictly controlled from the preliminary warning stage ▲Assign personnel to underground roadways for real-time monitoring on-site ▲Deploy flood prevention materials such as water barriers and sandbags in advance in urban areas, including semi-basement houses, to prevent casualties due to flooding ▲Actively support rapid evacuation of disaster-vulnerable households that have difficulty evacuating by cooperating with helpers ▲During heavy rain warnings, actively use all available publicity means such as disaster text messages and village broadcasts to advise the public to refrain from going out, and actively disseminate control situations in real time when controls are in place.
