US Commerce Secretary: "No Compromise on Security, but No Decoupling from China"
U.S. Secretary of Commerce Gina Raimondo stated regarding China that "there will be no compromise when it comes to protecting national security," but also made it clear that "the U.S. will not pursue decoupling (supply chain separation) or actions that hinder China's economy," according to major foreign media reports on the 29th.
According to the reports, Secretary Raimondo, who is visiting China, made these remarks during a meeting with Vice Premier He Lifeng at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing. Secretary Raimondo also met with Vice Premier Li Chang, the top official in charge of China's economy. She said, "The U.S. wants to cooperate with China on climate change, artificial intelligence (AI), and the fentanyl issue. The world expects us to work together to solve these problems," and Vice Premier Li stated, "A sound economic and trade relationship will benefit not only both countries but the entire world."
