Samsung Securities Surpasses 1.4 Million YouTube Subscribers, Industry First
Popular Investment and Economic Content Beyond Research
TikTok Launched Late Last Year Also Has 8,800 Followers and 2.5 Million Views
The official YouTube channel of Samsung Securities (Samsung POP) has surpassed 1.4 million subscribers, becoming the first in the securities industry to reach this milestone. This is the first time a securities company's official YouTube channel has exceeded 1.4 million subscribers. The total number of YouTube content views also reached 160 million, the highest in the industry.
On the 30th, Samsung Securities stated, "The milestone of surpassing 1.4 million subscribers first among securities firms was largely due to various investment information content featuring analysts, along with soft content that quickly captures trends and presents them in video form."
Representative content includes 'I Like That,' Korea's first investment psychology talk show, and the road quiz show 'Samsung Securities Shoots' held at locations such as the Han River. Additionally, lecture-style content where Samsung Securities employees become top instructors to easily explain economics and investment is gaining popularity. Various content is provided, such as 'Pension Classroom,' where Samsung Securities' pension experts deliver detailed information ranging from pension-related systems to products.
Industry-first 'Virtual Analyst' hosts 'Research Highlights,' and analysts from Samsung Securities Research Center deliver live, vivid stock market investment information every day at 4 p.m. through 'Research For You.' Notably, Samsung Securities opened the industry's first 'Practical Video' menu, allowing investors to invest immediately while watching videos, enhancing investor convenience.
With the addition of soft content targeting the MZ generation (Millennials + Generation Z) to investment information content, the subscriber base of Samsung Securities' YouTube channel has also changed. Subscribers under 34 years old accounted for 21.8% of total subscribers until early last year, but this has significantly increased to 33.5% this year.
Furthermore, Samsung Securities is gaining attention from the Zalpha generation by opening the industry's first TikTok channel, 'Poptok.' In March this year, they developed 'iSearch,' a virtual TikToker using animated characters, to deliver content that easily explains Research Talk, one of Samsung Securities' premium digital services.
Lee Dae-hee, head of Samsung Securities' Media Strategy Team, said, "Samsung Securities' YouTube channel is a platform that provides an opportunity for those who find finance and investment difficult to approach investing more easily. We focus on offering a good experience to investors through a variety of content, from easy-to-understand content for beginners to in-depth content featuring analysts for experienced investors."
Meanwhile, to celebrate surpassing 1.4 million subscribers, Samsung Securities is hosting a 'University Student Short-Form Video Contest.' Any student currently enrolled or on leave from university can participate, either individually or in teams of up to five members.
The contest theme is 'mPOP.' Participants are encouraged to creatively showcase the various attractions of Samsung Securities' mobile trading system, 'mPOP,' in short-form videos. Video submissions can be made on the Samsung Securities Short-Form Contest website until September 20. Submitted videos will be judged by advertising and video experts, with awards planned for November: one grand prize team (3 million KRW), two excellence award teams (1 million KRW each), and three merit award teams (500,000 KRW each), totaling 12 awards.
