Yeongdeungpo-gu, Recruiting Children and Adolescents for Policy Proposal Participation
Hosting a 'Policy Proposal Competition' Where Children and Adolescents Directly Participate in District Administration and Present Alternatives
Yeongdeungpo-gu (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it is recruiting children and adolescents to participate in the ‘Policy Proposal Contest’ to listen to the voices of children and discover policies that match their perspectives.
Now in its fourth year, this contest is themed “A Happier Tomorrow for Yeongdeungpo! Let’s Create It Together!” and is designed to provide children and adolescents with opportunities to consider local community issues and alternatives and participate in policymaking. The purpose is to respect children and adolescents as rightful members of the community and guarantee their social participation.
First, from August 18 to September 15, the district will accept policy proposals from children and adolescents born between 2005 and 2016 who reside in the district. Proposals related to ▲play and leisure ▲participation and civic awareness ▲safety and protection ▲health and social services ▲education ▲and residential environment are eligible.
After preliminary judging at the end of September, 5 to 7 teams will be selected to advance to the finals. Then, for the finalist teams, a joint training (workshop) will be held to support the production of presentation videos, supplement proposal content, and facilitate team discussions to ensure smooth presentations. Finally, at the final contest held on October 21, rankings such as grand prize, excellence, and merit will be decided after the final policy proposal presentations.
Adopted ideas will be reviewed by each department for feasibility and budget and will be reflected in the district administration as much as possible.
The district is focusing on listening to the vivid voices of residents from various fields and forming consensus. In early August, it also held a session to share district administration ideas and have sincere conversations with university student part-time workers.
