Gurye-gun Signs Business Agreement to Promote Consumption of Omega-3 Rice

Development of Various Processed Foods to Increase Rice Consumption
On the 25th, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it signed a win-win cooperation agreement to promote the consumption of Omega-3 rice with Sajo Daerim Co., Ltd., Gurye Nonghyup, and Gurye Omega-3 Agricultural Cooperative Corporation at the county office situation room.
The signing ceremony was attended by Kim Soon-ho, the county governor, Kim Taek-jun, head of Sajo Daerim Co., Ltd., Noh Seong-won, head of Gurye Nonghyup, and Ko Sang-chun, director of Gurye Omega-3 Agricultural Cooperative Corporation.
Gurye-gun and the three organizations promised close cooperation in ▲supporting production materials and revitalizing distribution ▲developing and selling new products ▲purchasing raw materials and processing ▲establishing rice production complexes and producing raw materials for rice ▲delivering Omega-3 rice to improve the quality and expand the market of Omega-3 rice.
This year, the planned area for eco-friendly rice certification in Gurye-gun is 175 hectares, of which 44 hectares, or 25%, are dedicated to Omega-3 rice.
Omega-3 rice, first produced in 2012, is supplied annually with 150 tons to iCOOP Consumer Cooperative, and it was patented in 2014.
Governor Kim Soon-ho said, “We expect that the continuous supply of Omega-3 rice to iCOOP Consumer Cooperative and Sajo Daerim Co., Ltd. will greatly improve farmers' income.”
