Hansung Cleantec Accelerates Domestic Production of Japan's Exclusive Ultrapure Water... Enters Phase 2 of National Project
Hansung Cleantec, a subsidiary of EN Corporation, is accelerating the localization of ultrapure water technology, which is currently monopolized by Japan.
On the 25th, a Hansung Cleantec official stated, “Preparation for the localization of equipment for the demonstration plant, the second phase of the national project for ultrapure water localization, is progressing smoothly,” and added, “We plan to conduct performance tests within this year.”
In May, Hansung Cleantec successfully supplied ultrapure water to a wafer factory, a semiconductor raw material plant, using the first phase ultrapure water equipment designed and constructed entirely with domestic technology. Following this, in the second phase, performance verification of key equipment for ultrapure water production, including ion exchange resin, TOC-UV, and MDG (degassing membrane), will be conducted in collaboration with domestic manufacturers starting in October.
Through this, it is expected to establish a foundation for technological independence and overseas expansion by localizing not only the ultrapure water manufacturing process monopolized by Japanese companies but also the core materials, parts, and equipment.
Hansung Cleantec secured an EPC (Engineering, Procurement, and Construction) project worth 83.6 billion KRW for large-capacity ultrapure water manufacturing equipment from SK Siltron in November last year, and the project is progressing without any setbacks. Following the national project demonstration plant, expectations for success in applying the technology to the main process are increasing.
