Sales Revenue, Operating Profit, and Net Profit Increase for Listed Companies in Changwon Region in the First Half of the Year
Defense, Transportation Equipment, and Power Generation Industries Drive Performance Growth in the KOSPI Market
The Changwon Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Gyeongnam investigated and announced the business performance of listed companies headquartered in the Changwon area for the first half of 2023.
In the first half of 2023, the combined sales of 21 companies listed on the Korea Exchange in the Changwon area amounted to KRW 22.7471 trillion, an increase of 18.6% compared to the same period last year (national average +2.3%). Operating profit was KRW 1.6059 trillion, up 44.5% year-on-year (national average -52.4%), and net profit was KRW 1.5093 trillion, up 309.8% year-on-year (national average -57.9%).
The sales of listed companies on the Korea Exchange were led by Doosan Enerbility (KRW 8.5804 trillion), Hyundai Wia (KRW 4.3801 trillion), Hanwha Aerospace (KRW 3.7249 trillion), Hyundai Rotem (KRW 1.6713 trillion), and KISCO Holdings (KRW 822.8 billion).
Companies with increased sales compared to the same period last year included SNT Energy (+81.4%), Sewon ENC (+65.1%), Samsung Air Conditioning (+51.0%), STX Heavy Industries (+45.9%), and Hanwha Aerospace (+42.0%), totaling 13 companies.
The 12 companies listed on the KOSDAQ market recorded sales of KRW 1.4639 trillion, a 1.0% decrease compared to the same period last year (national average +5.2%). Operating profit was KRW 48.5 billion, down 24.1% year-on-year (national average -36.1%), and net profit was KRW 10 billion, down 74.4% year-on-year (national average -41.4%).
The sales of KOSDAQ-listed companies were led by Shinsung Delta Tech (KRW 435.1 billion), Sambo Industry (KRW 226.2 billion), Woosoo AMS (KRW 191.3 billion), EM Tech (KRW 135.5 billion), and Almek (KRW 119.4 billion). Companies with increased sales compared to the same period last year included Almek (+110.3%), Nara M&D (+14.4%), Woosoo AMS (+12.4%), and Shinsung Delta Tech (+7.6%).
On an individual and separate basis for the first half of 2023, the 24 companies listed on the Korea Exchange in the Changwon area posted sales of KRW 13.996 trillion, up 21.1% year-on-year (national average -74.1%). Operating profit was KRW 727.3 billion, up 47.3% year-on-year (national average -36.0%), and net profit was KRW 143 billion, up 212.9% year-on-year (national average -15.0%).
The sales of Korea Exchange-listed companies were led by Hyundai Wia (KRW 3.69 trillion), Doosan Enerbility (KRW 3.0061 trillion), Hanwha Aerospace (KRW 1.7129 trillion), Hyundai Rotem (KRW 1.6497 trillion), and Hyundai BNG Steel (KRW 556.3 billion).
Companies with increased sales compared to the same period last year included Hanwha Aerospace (+212.5%), Sewon ENC (+65.1%), SNT Energy (+55.1%), STX Heavy Industries (+41.7%), and KISCO Holdings (+33.5%), totaling 19 companies.
The 17 companies listed on the KOSDAQ market posted sales of KRW 1.1344 trillion, down 11.4% year-on-year (national average +1.2%). Operating profit was KRW 36.1 billion, down 24.1% year-on-year (national average -41.8%), and net profit was KRW 17.1 billion, down 69.8% year-on-year (national average -41.6%).
The sales by KOSDAQ-listed companies were led by Gyeongnam Steel (KRW 204.5 billion), Sambo Industry (KRW 172.5 billion), Samhyun Steel (KRW 137.7 billion), Woosoo AMS (KRW 133.2 billion), and Almek (KRW 98.8 billion). Companies with increased sales compared to the same period last year included Almek (+51.7%), Woosoo AMS (+10.8%), Daesung Finetek (+10.2%), Dongbang Sunki (+9.6%), and Terra Science (+2.4%), totaling 7 companies.
