Dongdaemun-gu (Mayor Lee Pil-hyung) attended the ‘Indiscriminate Crime Response Meeting’ held on the morning of the 23rd at the 6th floor Planning Situation Room of Seoul City Hall to discuss preventive measures.
At the meeting, attended by Seoul Mayor Oh Se-hoon and the heads of 25 autonomous districts, they reviewed the city and district response plans to protect residents' lives from the recently increasing indiscriminate crimes.
Earlier, on the 17th, Dongdaemun-gu signed a business agreement with LG Uplus as part of its response to indiscriminate crimes, becoming the first local government nationwide to install the U+ Smart Radar in public restrooms.
The ‘U+ Smart Radar’ is an artificial intelligence (AI) monitoring system that uses high-frequency radar to recognize and analyze human movements rather than video, notifying the Dongdaemun Police Station of situations such as slips, suspicious lingering, or other abnormal behaviors. It is expected to greatly help secure safety in public restrooms where CCTV installation was not possible due to privacy concerns.
The district is operating the U+ Smart Radar installed inside two public restrooms with a high number of emergency bell reports, in cooperation with Dongdaemun Police Station and LG Uplus.
