Artificial Turf Fields to Be Established at Three Schools in Osan
City Improves Sports Facilities at Geumam Elementary, Uncheon Middle, and Seongho High Schools
Artificial turf fields will be established at three schools in Osan city, Gyeonggi Province.
On the 23rd, Osan City announced that it recently secured 1.6 billion KRW in project funds from the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education for the construction of artificial turf fields at three schools: Geumam Elementary School in Geumam-dong, Uncheon Middle School in Osan-dong, and Seongho High School in Wondong.
The city explained that this project follows the results of a 2023 demand survey for eco-friendly playground construction conducted earlier by the Gyeonggi Provincial Office of Education.
Previously, Geumam Elementary and Uncheon Middle had soil-based playgrounds, which posed health and welfare risks to youth due to dust dispersion. Although Seongho High School already has an artificial turf field, it has long exceeded its 8-year durability period.
This project will be promoted with a 9:1 cost-sharing ratio between the Provincial Office of Education and the city. The city plans to commence construction immediately after the third supplementary budget proposal is approved by the Osan City Council in September.
