Ensuring residents are the primary beneficiaries of various development projects... Increased collaboration between departments supplying and demanding donation and dedication facilities
Yongsan-gu (Mayor Park Hee-young) has launched the 'Donation and Dedication Information Communication Plaza' on the district's internal work network. This is to systematically manage donation and dedication facilities from private development projects and proactively establish plans for installing resident convenience facilities.
The 'Donation and Dedication Information Communication Plaza' features webtoons that explain the concept of donation and dedication and how to use the bulletin board in an easy-to-understand way for all employees. It also includes detailed management cards where one can check maps indicating sites where donation and dedication facilities are possible or planned, lists of donation and dedication plans by project, and official notices.
As of August, there are a total of 40 sites in the area where donation and dedication are in progress or planned. Among these, facility installation plans have been outlined for 24 sites, including Hannam 2, 3, 4, and 5 districts and Cheongpa 1 and 2 districts. For 16 sites, such as the Seogye-dong 33 residential redevelopment area and Jeongbichang Front 1 district, facility plans need to be reviewed considering resident demand.
A district official stated, "Successful facility installation requires collaboration among various departments related to technology, administration, and welfare," adding, "Disclosing the status of planned donation and dedication will greatly aid communication among related departments."
While the departments supplying donation and dedication facilities are mostly development project permit departments such as Urban Planning and Redevelopment Project divisions, the actual facility demand departments are cultural promotion and social welfare divisions, and information sharing on development plans and supply timing had been insufficient.
Park Hee-young, Mayor of Yongsan-gu, said, "Out of Yongsan's 16 neighborhoods, large-scale developments are underway or planned in 13 neighborhoods," and added, "We will systematically utilize donation and dedication facilities so that residents can be the greatest beneficiaries of various development projects."

Donation and dedication refers to the practice where private development projects receive regulatory relaxations such as floor area ratio in exchange for installing and providing public facilities and infrastructure to the public.
The Yongsan History Museum, which opened in March last year, is a representative case of donation and dedication. The developer of the Yongsan Railroad Hospital site special planning district (HDC Hyundai Development Company) refurbished the old Yongsan Railroad Hospital according to the district's plan and donated it as a dedication.
