"Heatwave Continues... Fashion Industry in Full Swing Preparing for Fall"
Zigzag, Fall Clothing Sales in the Last 2 Weeks Up 408% Year-on-Year
Zigzag, a style commerce platform operated by Kakao Style, announced on the 22nd that sales of autumn clothing in the past two weeks from August 1 to 15 increased by up to 408% compared to the same period last year.
By product, leather jacket transaction amounts increased the most, followed by autumn jackets (327%) and blousons (211%), which are popular as lightweight outerwear suitable for changing weather. Hoodies (116%), autumn blouses (72%), autumn dresses (59%), and autumn shirts (39%) also saw growth, and demand for winter products such as coats (29%) was high as well.
Sales of suede material products, considered a representative autumn fabric, increased the most at 142%, while transaction amounts for traditionally cold-season materials such as cashmere (49%), tweed (20%), and wool (18%) also rose.
The company explained that this is attributed not only to increased clothing demand due to more active outdoor activities amid the COVID-19 endemic phase but also to the faster product release cycles in the fashion industry.
Search volumes for autumn-related keywords are also rising significantly. In the second week of August, 10 autumn fashion items ranked within the top 30 rapidly rising weekly keywords on Zigzag, with autumn jackets ranking 3rd after a 369% increase in search volume compared to the previous week.
