At the 15th Anniversary Ceremony of the Establishment, "Creation of 30,000 Jobs"
The Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority held a commemorative ceremony on the 22nd to mark its 15th anniversary since its establishment.
The ceremony proceeded in the order of watching a promotional video, the national ceremony, progress report, awarding commendations to contributors who have contributed to the development of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone, and commemorative speeches. Commendations were awarded to 11 officials and related institution personnel selected as contributors for their significant contributions to the development of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority.

View original imageEstablished on August 13, 2008, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority manages a total of 8 districts (an area of 18.41㎢), and development has been completed in four districts: the International Fashion Design District, Shinseo Advanced Medical District, Suseong Medical District, and Yeongcheon Advanced Parts and Materials Industry District.
The Technopolis District, Pohang Convergence Technology Industry District, and Gyeongsan Knowledge Industry District are scheduled to be completed by the end of this year, and the Yeongcheon High-Tech Park District aims to complete development by 2024.
Since its establishment, the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone has attracted investments worth $1.073 billion from 31 foreign-invested companies and 5.6099 trillion KRW from 811 domestic companies and institutions, creating approximately 30,000 jobs and playing a significant role in regional economic development.
Kim Byung-sam, head of the Daegu-Gyeongbuk Free Economic Zone Authority, said in his commemorative speech, “Despite difficult domestic and international circumstances such as national tax revenue shortages and the prolonged Russia-Ukraine war, we must wisely overcome this crisis and transform into DGFEZ, a global innovation growth hub leading regional development.”
