Jeju Coast Guard Rescues Fisherman Who Fell from Tetrapod

A fishing enthusiast, Mr. A, who was injured after falling from the tetrapods on the outer side of the west breakwater at Jeju Port, was rescued by the Jeju Coast Guard.

According to the Jeju Maritime Police Station on the 22nd, Mr. A was confirmed to have been injured after slipping and falling while moving across the tetrapods to fish with his acquaintance, Mr. B.

In response, the Jeju Coast Guard rescue team and Jeju Police Station officers immediately dispatched to the scene upon receiving the report, arriving at the accident site at around 7:43 PM the previous day. They safely rescued Mr. A in cooperation with the fire department. Mr. A complained of a head contusion, rib pain, and wrist pain, and after emergency treatment, he was handed over to the ambulance team.

A Jeju Coast Guard official stated, “Tetrapods are covered with moss, making them slippery and prone to falls that can cause serious injuries. Due to the structure of the tetrapods, escape is difficult, making it a dangerous area for fishing. We strongly advise wearing life jackets during fishing activities and refraining from fishing on the tetrapods.”
