Public Hearing on Suncheon Urban Master Plan 2040

Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that it will hold the "2040 Suncheon Urban Master Plan Public Hearing" at 3 PM on the 23rd in the multipurpose hall of the Culture and Health Center as the first step to complete "Korea's Ecological Capital, First-Class Suncheon."

The urban master plan is the highest-level statutory plan established at the city and county level, encompassing plans related to architecture policy, urban development, urban regeneration, and urban landscape, and presents long-term policy directions as a comprehensive plan.

The "2040 Suncheon Urban Master Plan" is characterized by breaking away from the traditional expert and public official-centered urban planning method, and under the guidance of urban planning experts, it maximally collected citizens' opinions through eight different opinion-gathering methods including citizen planning groups and town-level citizen briefings, as well as more than 14 briefings and meetings through various channels.

The city designed the urban master plan centered on eight core goals considering changes in internal and external conditions and policy directions, and emphasized that the feasibility of the plan was strengthened through collaborative meetings with related department staff and expert consultations.

Citizens who have opinions on the 2040 Suncheon Urban Master Plan can submit their opinions by visiting the Urban Planning Division of Suncheon City Hall in person, by mail, fax, or email by the 23rd, and opinions can also be submitted on the day of the public hearing.

A Suncheon city official said, "The '2040 Suncheon Urban Master Plan' public hearing is the first statutory administrative procedure that presents the standards and direction for First-Class Suncheon to move toward a future city, and we expect many citizens to participate to achieve the administration policy of the 8th elected term, which aims for dignified citizens, trusted administration, and a creative city."
