Busking Zone Support Project, Expanding the Base of Culture and Arts
Come to Oiso, the Busking City!
Busan’s Gijang-gun (Governor Jeong Jong-bok) is attracting the attention of residents and tourists with its ‘Street Performance (Busking Zone) Support Project,’ which aims to expand the base of culture and arts.
The Busking Zone project is a program by Gijang-gun that supports street performance applicants by providing outdoor performance venues and sound equipment necessary for performances.
Starting on June 17 at the Gijang Market No. 1 Public Parking Lot, the project will continue from July to September every Saturday from 6 PM to 8 PM at the Dolphin Fountain Square in Jeonggwan-eup for two hours.
A Gijang-gun official stated that the project is so popular that applications for performances close early. Each performance features diverse stages such as participants’ unique singing, dancing, poetry recitations, and Taekwondo demonstrations, delighting the audience’s eyes and ears.
One performer expressed gratitude, saying, “Thanks to Gijang-gun’s support with venues and equipment, I was able to fulfill my personal ‘bucket list’ of wanting to try street performing.”
A Gijang-gun official said, “Both participants and spectators are responding positively to the street performance support project,” adding, “We will strive to foster a busking culture that offers residents various opportunities to enjoy culture and entertainment.”
