On the 21st, Suwon City in Gyeonggi Province held the 'Saebit Dolbomi' launch ceremony at the city hall auditorium, attended by Suwon Mayor Lee Jae-jun and others.
Saebit Dolbomi will be responsible for ▲identifying households in crisis in need of help within the community ▲discovering and linking local welfare resources ▲making emergency visits to households eligible for care services ▲providing community-specialized care services to target households.
To become a Saebit Dolbomi volunteer, one must visit the local administrative welfare center to apply and complete related job training. Members of the Community Security Council and local residents familiar with the community can participate.
Mayor Lee Jae-jun said, "I ask all Saebit Dolbomi volunteers to become the main actors in the 'Suwon Saebit Care' project, an integrated care system at the village level unique to Suwon, and perform their roles well," adding, "Depending on our efforts, the Suwon Saebit Care project can become a good model for care services in Korea."
Suwon City has been piloting the 'Suwon Saebit Care' project, which provides care services to all citizens in need, since July 1st in eight districts.
Suwon Saebit Care is a system centered on the village community to identify neighbors in need of care and provide them with essential care services. The four main services of Suwon Saebit Care are ▲home visits and housekeeping ▲accompaniment support ▲psychological counseling ▲temporary protection, all of which are life-oriented services.
Anyone can use the services regardless of income, assets, or age. For households with an income below 75% of the median income, the local care planner visits the home and, if care is deemed necessary, supports 1 million care points per person annually for care service costs. Households exceeding 75% of the median income can use care services at their own expense.
