Smart City Plan Approved by Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport
Promoting AI Surveillance, Safe Alley Monitoring, and More
Osan City in Gyeonggi Province is transforming into a smart city equipped with advanced artificial intelligence (AI).
Osan City announced on the 21st that its smart city plan was finally approved by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport on the 18th. This plan is a mid- to long-term roadmap for building a smart city over five years, from this year through 2027.
The approved Osan smart city plan consists of three main objectives: ▲providing citizen convenience services based on smart technology ▲establishing a foundation for a smart future city ▲improving citizen awareness to change together, along with four key focus areas and 27 detailed projects, the city explained.
According to the plan, the city will promote major smart services such as ▲advancing the AI smart selective control system ▲monitoring safe alleyways ▲expanding wireless signal systems and ground traffic lights ▲monitoring illegal garbage.

Kim Young-hyuk, head of Osan City's Smart Transportation Safety Division, said, “We will do our best to build specialized smart technology-based services to improve citizens' quality of life 24 hours a day.”
