Songpa-gu 'Orchestra Visiting Schools' Program Operation
Songpa-gu Symphony Orchestra Collaboration, Orchestra Performances Held at 7 Middle and High Schools
Providing Opportunities to Enjoy Various Music Genres Including Classical, Opera, and Musicals with Commentary... Participatory Programs Available Such as Conducting the Orchestra and Performing with the Symphony Orchestra
Songpa-gu (Mayor Seo Gang-seok) announced that starting this September, it will hold a total of seven 'Orchestra Visits to Schools' performances targeting middle, high, and special schools in the area.
'Orchestra Visits to Schools' is a program where the Songpa-gu Symphony Orchestra visits schools directly to present orchestra performances that students usually have difficulty experiencing. The district explained that the program is designed to help cultivate the emotional development and artistic sensitivity of youth and to provide opportunities to enjoy diverse cultural experiences.
This performance will captivate students' interest by presenting familiar classical pieces from textbooks as well as film theme songs such as 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and 'Aladdin,' opera, and musicals, all performed by a 30-member string orchestra with high-level performances and witty commentary by conductor Yang Il-oh.
In particular, the district has organized programs such as a 'Surprise Conducting Performance' and 'Collaboration with the Symphony Orchestra,' allowing students to participate directly in the performances and enjoy various fun experiences.
First, the 'Surprise Conducting Performance' offers students who wish to conduct the opportunity to lead the orchestra on-site. Additionally, students who want to participate in the 'Collaboration with the Symphony Orchestra' can apply in advance to perform together.
Schools wishing to participate in the 'Orchestra Visits to Schools' program can apply by submitting an official document to the Songpa-gu Education Cooperation Division by the 23rd.
Since its founding in 1995, the Songpa-gu Symphony Orchestra has showcased a harmonious blend of deep tones and charming melodies with solid performance skills, actively providing residents with various opportunities to enjoy classical music.
