Confirmed Cases Decrease for 2 Consecutive Weeks but Severe Cases Increase
Ulsan City has continuously urged compliance with COVID-19 quarantine guidelines. Although the summer spread of COVID-19 has somewhat slowed down, this measure is in response to the nationwide increase in critically ill patients and deaths.
In Ulsan, the weekly number of confirmed cases has decreased for two consecutive weeks, from a peak of 8,808 in the fourth week of July to 7,869 in the first week of August, and 7,394 in the second week of August.
The infection reproduction number also dropped below 1 for two consecutive weeks starting from the first week of August. The number of deaths was 5 during the peak of the winter outbreak in the fourth week of December, while no deaths were recorded in the second week of August.

An official from Ulsan City stated, “We plan to do our best in responding to COVID-19 by forming dedicated response teams targeting high-risk groups such as nursing hospitals and other infection-vulnerable facilities, as well as patients aged 60 and above with underlying conditions.” He added, “We hope everyone will continue to voluntarily wear masks, wash hands, follow cough etiquette, and maintain regular ventilation and disinfection to comply with daily quarantine rules.”
