Nick shouted at the man, but the man reportedly kept smiling throughout. Regarding the incident, Nick said, "What’s frustrating is that I couldn’t capture this scene on camera. So I took a video of the man's face," and shared the related footage.
Nick immediately reported the incident to the police, but communication was difficult because they were foreigners. He said, "It took 3 to 4 hours to file the report and write the statement," and lamented, "While the perpetrator was already resting in bed, the victim was left helpless with sadness and worry."
He also criticized the police response. Nick said, "The police told us they couldn’t show us the CCTV footage," adding, "This is an international #MeToo. My impression of Japan was good until now, but this incident has caused me great shock."
