Yoon Visits U.S. After Father’s Three-Day Funeral... Attends Korea-U.S.-Japan Summit

President Yoon Suk-yeol will depart on the 17th to attend the Korea-US-Japan summit held at Camp David near Washington DC, USA, after completing the three-day funeral rites for his late father, Professor Yoon Ki-jung, Honorary Professor at Yonsei University.
On the morning of the same day, President Yoon will conclude the funeral procedures by holding the farewell ceremony for Professor Yoon at the funeral hall of Sinchon Severance Hospital in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul. The farewell ceremony is scheduled for around 9 a.m., and the burial site is a park cemetery in Gyeonggi Province.
From early morning, key figures from the ruling party visited the Severance Hospital funeral hall in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, where Professor Yoon’s wake was held.
Kim Ki-hyun, leader of the People Power Party; Yoon Jae-ok, floor leader; Park Dae-chul, chairman of the Policy Committee; Lee Cheol-gyu, secretary-general?collectively known as the 'party’s four executives'?along with lawmakers Kwon Seong-dong and Jang Je-won, and chief spokesperson Kang Min-guk, appeared from around 7 a.m. The party’s four executives and lawmaker Jang have visited the wake for three consecutive days since it was set up on the 15th.
President Yoon will depart for the United States in the afternoon. First Lady Kim Keon-hee is not expected to accompany him on this trip.
President Yoon will arrive in the United States late in the afternoon on the 17th (local time) and rest. The next morning, on the 18th, he will move to Camp David to hold the Korea-US-Japan summit, followed by a leaders’ luncheon and a joint press conference.
Camp David, where US President Joe Biden invited President Yoon and Japanese Prime Minister Kishida Fumio, is the official presidential retreat of the United States.
