Goheung Geumsan Seokjeong District, Jeonnam Province Attracts New Dream City Development Project

Seokjeong Area 69,318㎡ Site, 100 Households Scale

Gohung-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Gong Young-min) announced on the 16th that the Geumsan Seokjeong District Housing Complex Development Project has been selected as the final candidate site for the ‘Saekkum City Development Project’ hosted by Jeollanam-do.

The Saekkum City Development Project is a Jeollanam-do brand project that attracts private capital to create a complex residential space equipped with country houses, sports and commercial facilities, and other convenience facilities targeting return-to-farm and return-to-village residents as well as retirees, and sells them to consumers.

The Geumsan Seokjeong District Saekkum City Development Project in Goheung (tentatively named Goheung German Village) plans to develop a complex residential complex with about 100 country houses, community facilities, an exhibition hall for Korean workers dispatched to Germany, and elderly welfare facilities on a 69,318㎡ site in Seokjeong-ri, Geumsan-myeon.

The Geumsan Seokjeong District Village Maintenance Association Promotion Committee, the main body of this project, plans to apply for the project once more than two-thirds (67 households) of the 100 households are recruited as residents according to the Rural and Fishing Village Maintenance Act, complete the project-related permits and approvals next year, and start infrastructure construction and housing construction in earnest from 2025.

Jeollanam-do and Gohung-gun plan to provide up to 4 billion KRW (50% provincial funds, 50% county funds) in infrastructure support for access roads to the project site, water and sewage systems, parking lots, park facilities, etc., and actively support administrative procedures such as development activities.

A county official said, “Gohung is an attractive place for urban retirees and return-to-farm and return-to-village residents due to its natural environment, mild climate, and abundant sunlight. We expect this project to greatly contribute to establishing a population base of 100,000 in 10 years.”
