Even Without Hand Strength, Easily Close the Washing Machine... LG Electronics Unveils Universal Up Kit at IFA
Usable Regardless of Gender, Age, or Disability... Confirmed by Disability Advisory Panel
President Ryu Jae-cheol: "An Enjoyable Home Appliance Experience for Everyone Without Exclusion"
LG Electronics announced on the 15th that it will unveil the 'Universal UP Kit' at IFA 2023, Europe's largest home appliance exhibition, held in Berlin, Germany, starting next month on the 1st. The accessory is designed to assist people with limited hand strength, such as those with disabilities, to easily open and close washing machines.
LG Electronics stated that the Universal UP Kit was designed for easy use by everyone regardless of gender, age, or disability status. An advisory group consisting of people with physical, hearing, visual, and brain lesion disabilities identified pain points. Subsequently, a practical improvement device that can be attached and detached from existing products was developed.

The 'Easy Handle' for washing machines was created to help customers with physical disabilities who lack strength or fine hand movements to easily open and close the door. High-contrast colors were applied so that customers with low vision can immediately recognize it. The 'Support Stand' for cordless vacuum cleaners helps users operate the product easily with minimal effort.
Other products include the 'Easy Hanger,' which allows users to hang clothes on the Styler moving hanger while seated in a wheelchair; the 'Rotating Shelf,' which makes it easier to use the inner space of refrigerators; the 'Easy Nozzle,' which attaches to water purifiers to adjust height; and the 'Braille Silicone Remote Control Cover' for visually impaired users.

LG Electronics said that creating the Universal UP Kit aligns with the company's ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) management philosophy of practicing 'a better life for all.' The use of recycled plastic materials is also part of ESG management, pursuing waste resource recycling and a circular economy.
