Open to Gwangjin Residents Starting from the 14th... Ensuring Safety and Environmental Management with On-site Staff Deployment and Cleaning Support Inside and Outside the School
Gwangjin-gu (Mayor Kim Kyung-ho) will temporarily open the former Seoul Hwayang Elementary School playground to residents starting from the 14th.
The former Seoul Hwayang Elementary School was closed on March 1 due to a school consolidation plan caused by a decrease in the number of students.
Accordingly, since there is a lack of nearby parks and sports facilities, the district signed a business agreement with the Seongdong Gwangjin Office of Education to utilize the school playground as a space for residents. The playground will be open to Gwangjin residents until the development plan for the Hwayang Elementary School site is finalized and construction begins.
In addition, to ensure residents can use the playground safely, the district will implement ▲access control through on-site staff deployment ▲tree maintenance such as pruning ▲cleaning support inside and outside the school.
Mayor Kim Kyung-ho said, “We have made every effort to ensure that the Seoul Hwayang Elementary School playground can be used as a sports and rest area for local residents,” and added, “We are also promoting a plan to create a temporary public parking lot using the school facilities.” He continued, “We will continue to enhance resident convenience through ongoing consultations with the Seongdong Gwangjin Office of Education.”
