SKT Yoo Young-sang's First Half Salary 1.45 Billion KRW... Top Paid CEO Among 3 Major Telecom Companies
Yoo Young-sang, CEO of SK Telecom, was found to have received the highest compensation among the CEOs of the three major mobile carriers.
According to the semi-annual reports of the three carriers disclosed on the Financial Supervisory Service's electronic disclosure system on the 14th, CEO Yoo received a total of 1.459 billion KRW in the first half of this year, the highest compensation among the three CEOs. The breakdown includes a salary of 600 million KRW, bonuses of 836 million KRW, and other earned income of 23 million KRW.
SKT evaluated that CEO Yoo achieved stable performance in wired and wireless communications, media business, and enterprise sectors based on the synergy between SK Telecom and SK Broadband.
The company stated, "Consolidated sales increased by 3.3% year-on-year to 17.3 trillion KRW, and consolidated operating profit rose by 1.2% year-on-year to 1.6 trillion KRW, accelerating the leap toward becoming an AI company," adding, "We led solid growth in the wired and wireless communication sectors."
Hwang Hyun-sik, CEO of LG Uplus, received compensation of 1.058 billion KRW. This includes a salary of 720 million KRW, bonuses of 349 million KRW, and other earned income of 8 million KRW.
LG Uplus explained, "We achieved measurable results such as sales of 13.9 trillion KRW and operating profit of 1.1 trillion KRW last year, and considered factors such as presenting a vision for mid- to long-term growth and driving business structure changes."
Former KT CEO Koo Hyun-mo received 2.995 billion KRW, which includes a retirement allowance of 1.935 billion KRW. The retirement allowance is calculated based on the standard annual salary, length of service, and payment rate. Excluding the retirement allowance, the salary was 257 million KRW, bonuses were 778 million KRW, and other earned income was 25 million KRW, similar to CEO Hwang's level.

In the first half of this year, the average salary per employee was 80 million KRW at SK Telecom, 52 million KRW at LG Uplus (66 million KRW excluding employees engaged in telecommunication product sales and maintenance), and 50 million KRW at KT, in that order.
