Establishment of the Energy and Climate Policy Research Headquarters
On the 14th, the Korea Energy Economics Institute announced that it has carried out an organizational restructuring and personnel changes in department heads to strengthen support for national energy policy tasks and to respond flexibly to research demands.
To enhance organic linkage between national policy tasks and policy research, the institute reorganized the existing Energy Carbon Neutrality Research Headquarters and Energy Industry Research Headquarters into the Power Policy Research Headquarters, Energy Industry Research Headquarters, and Energy Climate Policy Research Headquarters. The Power Policy Research Headquarters was newly established by integrating and reorganizing the Power Policy Research Team, Nuclear Power Policy Research Team, and Renewable Energy Policy Research Team, which were previously dispersed across different headquarters.
The existing Energy Industry Research Headquarters will continue conducting policy research on energy sources to establish energy security. The Energy Demand Management Research Team has been expanded and reorganized into the Energy Demand Analysis Research Office.
The Energy Information and Statistics Center and the Energy International Cooperation Center will continue their existing research functions, while the Energy International Cooperation Center’s overseas energy trend analysis capabilities have been enhanced. The Research Planning and Coordination Office and the Management Support Office have been renamed the Research Planning and Coordination Headquarters and the Management Support Headquarters, respectively, with plans to strengthen functions related to research planning, coordination, performance dissemination, and management support.
Meanwhile, the Future Strategy Team within the Vice President’s Office has been renamed the Future Energy Research Office to improve understanding among research demanders and will serve as a cross-departmental convergence and fusion research platform.
