Seongnam City Introduces 'Bureum Car Service' Supporting Vehicles and Travel Companions
Seongnam City in Gyeonggi Province has pilot-launched the 'Bureum Car Service' as part of its community-integrated care project.
Bureum Car is a service that provides vehicles and accompanying assistants (care managers) to vulnerable elderly individuals with mobility difficulties when they need to visit hospitals or public institutions.
Seongnam City introduced this service to help improve mobility convenience for socially disadvantaged groups.
The service is operated by the Seongnam City Center for Comprehensive Support of Elderly Living Alone (Yatap-dong, Bundang-gu), which is the city's customized care service provider.
Support is provided to 1,869 elderly registered as customized care recipients at the center. When they apply for the service, after dispatch approval, a care manager is matched to accompany them round-trip to destinations such as hospitals.

Seongnam City plans to expand the Bureum Car Service to all 4,002 elderly customized care recipients starting from March next year.
