Dong-A University Environmental Health Center, Operation of Health Sharing Camp
The Busan Environmental Health Center of Dong-A University conducted the '6th Health Sharing Camp of 2023.'
Recently held in cooperation with the Hallyeohaesang Ecological Exploration Center of the Korea National Park Service in Tongyeong, Gyeongnam, this Health Sharing Camp was attended by about 30 children and adolescents from sensitive and vulnerable groups, who experienced environmental disease education tailored to their level and healing in the cypress forest nature.
Participants attended a lecture at the Busan Center by Dr. Ryu Ho-je from the Department of Occupational and Environmental Medicine at Dong-A University Hospital on the topic of 'Understanding and Management Strategies for Environmental Diseases.'
They also watched an educational video titled 'Let's Defeat the Fine Dust Monster!' which explained the definition of fine dust and response guidelines according to fine dust concentration levels, and viewed educational materials called 'Microplastics, Who Are You?' that provided information on reducing microplastic use in daily life and the impact of microplastics on the environment, followed by a true or false quiz.
There was also a hands-on coloring activity and presentation related to environmental protection, which helped enhance understanding of harmful environmental substances in daily life and their solutions.

A representative of the Busan Environmental Health Center stated, “We are striving to improve health and welfare in various ways, including establishing a pre-surveillance system for environmental diseases and building communication channels with Busan citizens for environmental health-related surveys, research, prevention, and education.”
