SK Innovation-Kookmin University Hosting
'Happy Green Design Exhibition' Visit
Directly Overseeing from Planning Stage

Kim Jun, Vice Chairman of SK Innovation, cited the 'power of design' as a key element in ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) communication.

On the 10th, Vice Chairman Kim visited the "Happy Green Design Exhibition" held by SK Innovation and Kookmin University at Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) in Jung-gu, Seoul, emphasizing the importance of design for ESG communication. Vice Chairman Kim personally oversaw the exhibition from its planning stage, including attending the signing of the "Green ESG Design Development Industry-Academic Cooperation MOU" between SK Innovation and Kookmin University in March this year. Accompanying him on the visit were Kim Ji-yong, Chairman of the Kookmin Academy Foundation, Jeong Seung-ryeol, newly appointed President of Kookmin University, and Oh Jong-hoon, CEO of SK Energy P&M CIC.

The green new business promoted by SK Innovation is essential for achieving net zero to overcome the environmental crisis. However, due to its unprecedented new business characteristics, it also faces the challenge of needing to approach a wider range of stakeholders more familiarly. Professors and students from Kookmin University's design department created sculptures that allow a glimpse into the future net zero era.

Vice Chairman Kim reviewed each of the works created by 414 students from Kookmin University's College of Fine Arts and the Graduate School of Techno Design (TED), directly asking students and faculty about their creative intentions and exchanging opinions on the works. The exhibition, open until the 13th, displayed 263 pieces that reinterpret SK Innovation's green assets and ESG management direction through design, including the Energy Super Station and Haengko (Happy Elephant). Selected outstanding works will be transferred to SK Innovation after the awards ceremony on the 29th and will be used in ESG management activities.

Vice Chairman Kim said, "This exhibition is significant in that it is the first time a company and a university have collaborated on design with ESG?a pressing and essential topic of our time?as the theme. We will also strive to refine these meaningful works so that they can have a positive impact on our society and future generations."
