Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, Conducts Emergency Inspection of Retention Basin Ahead of Typhoon Khanun's Approach
On the afternoon of the 10th at 5 PM, Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo District, conducted an emergency inspection of the Mangwon retention basin, a flood prevention facility, in preparation for heavy rainfall expected across Seoul due to the approach of the 6th typhoon.
This emergency inspection of the retention basin was carried out in anticipation of heavy rain during the night as Typhoon Khanun's landfall speed slowed and it neared Seoul.
Mayor Park personally inspected the retention basin site one by one to check the operation status of the basin in response to the heavy rain.
Mayor Park instructed the retention basin management officials, "Since the use of the retention basin is essential when heavy rain falls, please ensure the basin functions properly," adding, "While it is impossible to completely prevent natural disasters, if we conduct prior inspections and make every effort to minimize damage, major casualties and property damage can be avoided."
