Seoul City, "14 Buses Rerouted Around K-pop Concert Venue"
Jamboree Concert Government Transportation Measures Support
Increased Safety Personnel at Nearby Subway Stations
Seoul City announced on the 10th that it will prepare transportation support measures to assist the event as the government’s transportation plan related to the '2023 Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree Concert and Event' on the 11th is being promoted.
Tomorrow at Sangam World Cup Stadium, about 40,000 jamboree participants who were dispersed across 8 regions nationwide will gather in one place by traveling on approximately 1,400 buses. To ensure the smooth progress of the event, a government-level transportation plan focusing on safety and parking measures, event management, traffic control, and mobility measures will be implemented.
According to the government transportation plan, the city will prepare transportation support measures such as public transportation operation and traffic information guidance. Especially this time, since preparations are needed for heavy rain situations such as Typhoon Khanun, citizens are advised to use public transportation and refrain from unnecessary travel for safety.
First, as a large number of charter buses are expected to be concentrated, Seoul will operate VMS (Variable Message Signs) across the city from before the event starts in the afternoon until after it ends to provide real-time traffic information and notify about congestion around the area.
For public transportation users, traffic control congestion information on World Cup-ro and bus detour guidance will also be displayed through BIT (Bus Information Terminal). Therefore, citizens passing through nearby areas are advised to check traffic information in advance. In addition, related organizations such as taxis and logistics will be informed in advance about traffic control and expected congestion around Sangam-dong to help alleviate road congestion and induce detours.
All 14 bus routes passing through World Cup-ro and Jeungsan-ro (12 city bus routes and 2 village bus routes) will operate on detour routes. Accordingly, bus stops near the stadium will be temporarily unavailable during the event, but passengers boarding and alighting will be allowed to do so at nearby stops along the detour routes upon request.
Since World Cup-ro and other roads will be temporarily used as parking lots, the city will conduct special crackdowns on illegal parking and stopping vehicles around the stadium before the gathering of charter buses, and to ensure pedestrian safety, public bicycles and personal mobility devices will be prohibited from being returned or rented in the stadium area.
At nearby subway stations, World Cup Stadium Station (Line 6) and Digital Media City Station (Line 6), additional safety personnel will be deployed to manage crowd density and maintain order. Compared to usual, 27 additional safety staff (from 11 to 38) will be assigned to manage order on platforms, entrances, and stairs, and to assist with guiding movement routes to the event venue.
