Securing the Bio-based Raw Materials Market for Jewelry and Accessories
Boram Group (Chairman Choi Cheol-hong) is set to actively pioneer the biogenic gemstone market using biogenic materials. On the 10th, Boram Group announced that its manufacturing affiliate, Via Life Sciences, will launch the biogenic gemstone brand 'Viagem' in the market.
Biogenic gemstones are synthetic gems whose mineralogical characteristics such as shape, color, and hardness closely resemble those of natural gemstones. They are made by extracting biogenic elements from raw materials like hair, cremated remains, umbilical cords, and fingernails, then synthesizing them with gemstone powder. They are evaluated to have higher transparency and clarity than natural gemstones.
Via Life Sciences' biogenic gemstone brand 'Viagem' carries out all processes including desired color, shape, size, and packaging with its own facilities and technical staff. It can craft not only gemstones but also jewelry such as rings, necklaces, bracelets, and commemorative plaques.
Boram Group began its biogenic gemstone business in 2007. After long research and development, Viagem won the Gold and Special Awards at the 2022 Geneva International Exhibition of Inventions in Switzerland, gaining global recognition. Boram Group explained that although Viagem is gaining attention as a 'product for memorializing the deceased,' it is also planning a business model that can give meaning to all commemorative subjects and is preparing to enter the market. Viagem can be utilized not only in funeral homes and columbaria but also in wedding malls, postpartum care centers, temples, churches, and award ceremonies.

A Boram Group official said, "Viagem can further enhance its meaning and value through collaborative products for couples preparing for marriage and proposals, religious people with faith, pregnant women, and pet owners," adding, "It can also be spotlighted as a new form of memorial service."
