On the 9th, Jeonbuk Province announced that it held an emergency response situation inspection meeting with city and county officials and related organizations regarding the approach of Typhoon Khanun, the 6th typhoon of the year, and visited the site.
According to forecasts from the Korea Meteorological Administration, the Jeonbuk area will come under the influence of the typhoon starting from night. Typhoon Khanun, the first typhoon to make landfall in Korea this year, is a strong typhoon with a maximum wind speed of 35m/s and a radius of 350km, expected to make landfall on the southern coast tomorrow morning (the 10th).

The typhoon is expected to affect the area from early morning to night on the 10th, with heavy rainfall exceeding 300mm and strong winds of 25m/s expected in the eastern part of Jeonbuk.
On that day, Governor Kim Kwan-young of Jeonbuk Province presided over the meeting and ordered a flawless work system to ensure that there would be no casualties through preemptive control and resident evacuation.
The province has been operating emergency level 3 since 3 p.m. It is conducting pre-inspections of areas vulnerable to landslides, as well as regions previously affected by heavy rain and earthquakes.
Drainage facilities such as sluice gates and drainage pump stations, as well as reservoirs, were urgently inspected, and four persons were assigned to each underground passage to enable rapid response in crisis situations. Flood-prone facilities such as riverside parking lots, underground passages, lowland roads, and riverside walking trails were preemptively controlled.
In addition, the province is doing its best in preemptive measures such as pre-release of reservoirs, dredging of agricultural drainage channels, and safety inspections of outdoor advertisements and tower cranes.
Residents in areas at risk of collapse or flooding are advised to evacuate in advance, and evacuation orders will be issued if necessary to protect the precious lives of the residents.
Governor Kim said, "Conduct pre-inspections of disaster-vulnerable areas and preemptive resident evacuation, and deploy persons in charge at underground passages for prompt response. Especially, please do your best in safety management so that the more than 5,600 Jamboree participants in the province return from Korea with good memories."
