Jinju City Council Conducts Pre-Inspection of Disaster-Vulnerable Areas in Preparation for Typhoon 'Khanun'

Typhoon Khanun, the 6th typhoon accompanied by strong winds and heavy rain, is expected to make landfall on the Korean Peninsula on the morning of the 10th. On the 9th, the Jinju City Council in Gyeongnam visited disaster-prone areas to conduct a preliminary inspection of safety measures.
On that day, Yang Hae-young, chairman of the Jinju City Council, along with 16 council members, inspected the Chojun-dong apartment construction site, Namgang Dam, and the area around the underside of Jinju Bridge and the Namgang River, together with officials from Jinju City and the Namgang Dam branch of Korea Water Resources Corporation.

View original imageAt the site, the council members listened to Jinju City's pre-typhoon measures through briefings from the Housing Landscape and Road Departments and checked the operation status of disaster safety facilities. In particular, POSCO E&C, the apartment construction company, provided detailed explanations on the status of measures taken for facilities such as three tower cranes and the emergency response system.
Next, the council members inspected the facilities under Jinju Bridge and received guidance from the Namgang Dam branch of Korea Water Resources Corporation on the plans for gate opening and discharge management at Namgang Dam, then directly checked the gates toward the main stream of the Namgang River.
