Hong Young-geun Headquarters Chief Inspects Safety Management Measures in Areas at Risk of Damage
The Jeonnam Fire Headquarters has launched an all-out response to minimize damage from Typhoon Khanun, the 6th typhoon heading north toward South Korea.
According to Jeonnam Fire on the 9th, Headquarters Chief Hong Young-geun visited the typhoon damage-prone areas of Damyang and Boseong to directly inspect safety management measures.
At this meeting, he urged efforts to prevent secondary damage in areas affected by last month's heavy rain.
He also visited the construction site of the new Gurye and Gokseong Fire Stations to ensure thorough safety inspections.
To prepare for the typhoon, starting today, the Fire Headquarters Chief and the chiefs of 22 city and county fire stations will work 24-hour fixed-position shifts. Additionally, through early emergency mobilization, one-fifth of the available personnel at fire stations have been reinforced.
To prepare for a surge in 119 emergency calls, the reception desks have been expanded from 30 to 50 units, and special rescue teams have been deployed forward to high-risk areas along the typhoon's path to actively respond to disaster situations.
Furthermore, to secure transportation means for resident evacuation during vulnerable times such as early morning hours, cooperation systems with related organizations have been strengthened.
