Taekwang Industrial and Daehan Fibers, textile and petrochemical affiliates of Taekwang Group, announced on the 8th that they held a ‘13th Anniversary Ceremony of the Group Home Children Regular Sponsorship Agreement’ with the Korea Child and Youth Group Home Association at their headquarters in Jangchung-dong, Seoul on the 7th. The ceremony was attended by Taekwang Industrial CEO Jo Jin-hwan, Korea Child and Youth Group Home Association President Lee Sang-yoon, and about 20 employees and officials from both companies.
From June 2013 to June 2023, Taekwang Industrial and Daehan Fibers established the ‘Didim Seed Bank’ program to support about 1,500 vulnerable children over 10 years, providing approximately 500 million KRW in sponsorship funds. Through this agreement, they plan to provide an additional sponsorship of more than 150 million KRW over three years until June 2026, totaling about 650 million KRW in support over 13 years.
The regular sponsorship for group home children holds even more significant meaning as it realizes Taekwang Group’s social contribution value of ‘Sharing Great Light’ through voluntary regular sponsorship participation not only from local governments and companies but also from employees.
Through the ‘Didim Seed Bank’ project, Taekwang Industrial was recognized by the Ministry of Health and Welfare in July 2021 with a Minister’s Commendation in the child welfare category for its efforts in supporting independence funds for children in protective facilities, linking private support for vocational education for children aging out of care, and social enterprises. In addition to the ‘Didim Seed Bank Sponsorship Project’ with group homes, Taekwang Industrial supports the Happy Tree Choir’s education and performance expenses and continues various social contribution activities for economically disadvantaged children, such as the ‘Attachment Doll Donation Activity’ (2020), where employees made dolls through DIY volunteering, and the ‘Hope Wrap Campaign’ (2021) for climate refugee mothers and newborns.
CEO Jo Jin-hwan stated, “We will continue our sponsorship and activities so that children in group homes can grow into respectable members of society in a happy environment.”
