Gwangju Buk-gu Operates Science Camp for Low-Income Elementary Students
On the 7th, Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City announced that it will operate a 'Science Camp with Friends' for low-income elementary school students.
This science camp is an event prepared by Buk-gu in collaboration with the National Gwangju Science Museum and the Gwangju Community Chest of Korea to provide a special science experience opportunity free of charge to low-income elementary school students during the summer vacation.
Last month, Buk-gu recruited participants targeting upper-grade elementary school students within 100% of the median income and selected 900 hopeful children. The event's budget of about 30 million won was covered by the Community Chest of Korea.
The executing organization is the Buk-gu Community Social Security Council, and the selected children will enjoy valuable scientific experiences through visits to the Starlight Observatory, which has the nation's top-level astronomical observation equipment, and Space360, the country's best 3D virtual reality theater that can be viewed without 3D glasses.
The event will be held in nine sessions until the 22nd, with 100 elementary school students participating in four science programs each session, both in the morning and afternoon.
