Lee Taegyu: "This is not the time for political blame games... We must investigate where the '100 billion won' was spent"
Regarding the Saemangeum World Scout Jamboree event held in Saemangeum, Jeonbuk, which has been pushed to the brink of collapse due to conflicts, the political circles are blaming each other, but Rep. Lee Tae-gyu of the People Power Party expressed concern, saying, "Now is not the time for that (blame game)."
On the 7th, on KBS's 'Choi Kyung-young's Strongest Current Affairs,' Rep. Lee said, "If the political circles engage in a blame game here again, how will the international community view our country?"
He added, "There are continuous criticisms that the government officials have ruined the Korea brand power that the private sector has built up through K-pop and K-movies," and said, "However, now even religious groups and companies are stepping up and joining forces, so I believe this is not the time for a blame game."
At the same time, he raised his voice that the budget spent on the jamboree disruption incident should be investigated. Rep. Lee said, "After the event ends, I believe that if an investigation is conducted on what the related ministries and the organizing committee have done since the venue was confirmed as Saemangeum, and how the budget exceeding 100 billion won was spent, the responsibility will clearly be revealed," adding, "Depending on the investigation results, those involved should be held strictly accountable politically, administratively, and if necessary, judicially."
He also pointed out the problem of 'bureaucracy.' Rep. Lee said, "Many people say that if this had been entrusted to private companies, it would have been done excellently, and that there is almost no expert in the organizing committee," adding, "Have the bureaucrats not been holding onto the private and expert domains tightly for the past five years? Responsibility should be demanded here."

He said, "Whether it is the central government or Jeollabuk-do, the bureaucratic society clearly has responsibility, and if they could not fulfill their roles or had responsibilities but lacked the ability to do so," he added, "How can we just overlook this? I believe this time it must be thoroughly investigated and corrected."
