Hampyeong-gun, Expo Park Water Playground Plays Key Role in Economic Revitalization
Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground is gaining great popularity amid the hot summer weather, bringing big smiles to the local commercial district as well.
According to the county on the 6th, on the 4th, when the heatwave was at its peak, more than 2,000 family groups flocked to the Hampyeong Expo Park Water Playground in a single day, making it so crowded that there was hardly any space to step.
Visitors gathered under parasols set up on the lawn around the water playground, enjoying chicken, pizza, Chinese food, and other deliveries from local restaurants, making their water play even more enjoyable.
The county has installed large shade tents and about 80 six-person parasols around the water playground to provide convenience for users who eat and drink within the area.
Additionally, contact information for restaurants is posted inside the water playground, so orders for delivery food never stop.
A restaurant owner, Mr. A from a Chinese restaurant in Hampyeong-eup, said with a smile, “Since the water playground opened, deliveries have increased, and sales have tripled, which is great.” Mr. B from Hampyeong-eup said, “I called two chicken restaurants in the evening, but they couldn’t take orders due to running out of ingredients.”
Some restaurants are making two to three times higher sales than usual during the water playground’s open period, showing that the playground’s popularity is having a significant impact on revitalizing the local economy.
Kim O-seon, head of the Facility Operations Team at the Tourism Policy Office, stated, “The Expo Park Water Playground is a popular summer vacation spot visited by more than 30,000 people every year, greatly boosting the local economy. We will do our best to ensure that tourists can create joyful and happy memories without any safety accidents until the water playground closes.”
The water playground, which opened on the 14th of last month, had 18,000 visitors as of the 4th.
