'Random Crimes' Kim Dong-yeon: "Isolation and Alienation Deepen, Urgent Need for Societal Reality Awareness Shift"
Kim Dong-yeon, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, recently promised to do his best to actively respond to the series of 'random crimes' and to prepare support measures for the victims. He also urged a shift in awareness regarding our society, where alienation and isolation are intensifying.
On the 6th, through a post on his social networking service (SNS), Governor Kim said, "Random crimes targeting innocent citizens are continuing," and expressed sorrow, stating, "One resident who was harmed in the Seohyeon-dong incident last week has ultimately passed away."
He added, "I do not know how to offer words of comfort to the family and neighbors," and said, "As a public official responsible for the safety of the residents, I feel sorry to all those who are experiencing shock and anxiety."
Furthermore, he introduced, "Right after the incident occurred, Gyeonggi Province dispatched provincial government officials to the hospital to personally take care of the victims and their families," and "We are also actively providing psychological counseling and medical support to the victims, their families, and witnesses."
He also promised, "Moreover, Gyeonggi Province will do its best to establish safety measures to prevent similar incidents, as well as active responses and support plans for victims."
