Forest Trail Walk, Five Senses Forest Experience, Dyeing Experience, etc.
Gokseong-gun, Jeollanam-do (Governor Lee Sang-cheol) visited the National Naju Forest Center with residents of the Dementia Safe Village on July 20 and August 3 to hold the healing program "Silver Five Senses Satisfaction" outing event.
This event was held for a total of 46 people, including 18 residents of Gwaesori, Samgi-myeon, designated as a Dementia Safe Village this year, and 28 residents of Gagok-ri, Osan-myeon.
The healing program "Silver Five Senses Satisfaction" is an anti-aging forest healing program for the elderly developed in collaboration with the National Institute of Forest Science, linked with the Sharing Forest Camp at the National Naju Forest Center. This program provides therapeutic experiences using the forest to prevent dementia.
This outdoor event aimed to build mutual trust between residents of the Dementia Safe Village and families of dementia patients and to achieve emotional stability through forest healing activities.
At the National Naju Forest Center, participants took a walk along the deck road forest trail, experiencing the forest with their five senses in a day program.
Additionally, a physical massage and stretching program using small tools was conducted. Following this, a cognitive enhancement program using natural materials and an indigo dyeing experience, inspired by Naju’s indigo story, were held to promote creativity.
A representative from the Dementia Safety Center said, “We hope that this forest healing program and active physical activities will help improve the depression of the elderly and the families caring for dementia patients.”
Meanwhile, the Gokseong-gun Dementia Safety Center is actively conducting various Dementia Safe Village projects, including dementia prevention, cognitive enhancement, cognitive rehabilitation education, promotional activities to improve dementia awareness, and village mural events with residents. They are also installing safety bars and other measures to ensure the safety of dementia patients.
