A story has emerged about a Chinese graduate student who focused solely on research all day and reached a weight of 90 kg in just one semester. This graduate student gave up her studies to lose weight and returned to her previously slim figure. Regarding her withdrawal from graduate school, she said, "I have no regrets because I lost weight."
Hong Kong media South China Morning Post (SCMP) reported on the 2nd (local time) the story of a woman named 'Xiang' from Zhejiang Province in eastern China. Xiang was a student at a nearby graduate school but suddenly stopped her studies a year ago.
Previously, Xiang devoted herself to research and studies day and night in the laboratory during her graduate school days. Because of this, her weight rose to 90 kg in just one semester. Photos of Xiang's body during her school days were also revealed on China's popular social networking service (SNS) 'Weibo' and others.

Stressed by obesity, Xiang eventually gave up graduate school and chose to focus on losing weight. In an interview with a Chinese media outlet, she said, "I was suffering from obesity due to overwork," and added, "I was feeling very bad at that time."
It was not an easy decision to give up the graduate degree she had prepared for a long time. However, the severe stress and health problems caused by weight gain were more important to Xiang.

Xiang said she does not regret giving up her degree and rather feels good about it.
Meanwhile, Xiang's story gained great popularity among Chinese netizens through 'Weibo' and other platforms. Her posts have recorded about 1.3 million views.
