Proposal for Building a Gurye-type Age-friendly City Where All Generations Thrive

On the 2nd, Gurye-gun, Jeollanam-do announced that it has launched a research project to create a Gurye-type age-friendly city in preparation for the continuous increase in the elderly population and the super-aged society.

In June 2023, Gurye-gun enacted the "Ordinance on the Creation of an Age-Friendly City in Gurye-gun," proposing a plan to build a Gurye-type age-friendly city by applying the eight domains of age-friendly cities suggested by the World Health Organization?community resources, health, transportation, housing, social participation, communication, employment, and social integration?to the situation of Gurye-gun.

Through this research project, Gurye-gun plans to establish a comprehensive implementation plan based on the diagnosis and analysis of its age-friendliness and develop related new policies to receive WHO age-friendly city certification in January 2024.

County Governor Kim Soon-ho said, "We will seek comprehensive and systematic measures to improve the quality of life for the elderly and make multifaceted efforts to create a city where everyone can live well and happily."
