Gyeonggi-do Prepares Revised Comprehensive Development Plan for Border Areas Worth 3.5496 Trillion Won
Gyeonggi Province has finalized the 'Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development Amendment Final Draft' worth 35.496 trillion KRW across 53 projects and submitted it to the Ministry of the Interior and Safety on the 4th.
The amendment to the Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development is intended for the Ministry of the Interior and Safety's planned revision of the 'Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development' scheduled for October.
Gyeonggi Province previously held a public hearing on the 25th of last month and finalized the amendment final draft after collecting opinions from mayors and county heads.
Gyeonggi Province excluded 7 projects worth 167.6 billion KRW that are impossible to implement by 2030 in 7 border cities and counties, and instead newly included 18 projects worth 728.3 billion KRW that local governments and residents desire.
Additionally, 5 newly proposed projects worth 86.1 billion KRW, suggested through the public hearing, were also included.
The Ministry of the Interior and Safety's Comprehensive Plan for Border Area Development was established in 2011 to improve residents' welfare and create new growth engines through sustainable development of 15 underdeveloped border cities and counties in Incheon, Gyeonggi Province, and Gangwon Province.
It is a statutory plan established for 225 projects worth 13.2 trillion KRW from 2011 to 2030, of which 37 projects worth 3.4 trillion KRW are allocated to Gyeonggi Province.
Over the past 12 years, Gyeonggi Province has executed 24 projects worth 1.7 trillion KRW.
If all of Gyeonggi Province's amendment plans are reflected, the original 37 projects worth 3.487 trillion KRW will increase by 62.6 billion KRW to 53 projects worth 3.5496 trillion KRW.
