Jangseong-gun Awarded 'Excellence Prize' at National Local Government Job Awards

Jangseong-gun, Jeollanam-do, won the Excellence Award in the Regional Job Target Disclosure System category at the ‘National Local Government Job Awards’ ceremony held at the Government Sejong Convention Center on the 2nd.

According to the county on the 3rd, the ‘National Local Government Job Awards,’ hosted by the Ministry of Employment and Labor, is an event that evaluates and awards the job project performance of 243 local governments nationwide every year.

Jangseong-gun continued its record of winning for four consecutive years by receiving the Excellence Award at the '2023 National Local Government Job Awards'.

Outstanding local governments are selected through the first-stage provincial evaluation and the second-stage Ministry of Employment and Labor evaluation.

The county won the Excellence Award in 2020, the Special Award in 2021, and again the Excellence Award last year and this year, securing a record of winning for four consecutive years along with prize money of 70 million KRW.

The county was highly evaluated for strengthening the professionalism of the job project organization by establishing the Job Economy Office and for achievements such as establishing a detailed comprehensive job plan reflecting local conditions.

In particular, the ‘Job Industry Infrastructure Creation’ that opens the future of Jangseong is drawing attention.

The county recently succeeded in attracting the National Cardiovascular Research Institute, which is expected to create 12,500 quality jobs. The development project of the Advanced 3 District in the Gwangju Research and Development Special Zone, expected to attract 3,814 households and about 9,500 people, and the establishment project of the National Subtropical Crop Demonstration Center with a national budget of 35 billion KRW also attract attention.

In addition, efforts are being made to create a ‘Jangseong where young people want to live’ through self-reliance and housing, long-term employment support, customized education, and employment and start-up support that induce the influx of young population.

Career-interrupted women’s vocational education and training and mid-to-late career reemployment preparation education are also being operated solidly to provide customized jobs for each generation.

In the agricultural sector, the county expanded the agricultural job base by building the Jangseong Local Food Advanced Direct Store and operating the online shopping mall ‘Jangseong Mall.’

Support was also provided to strengthen self-sustainability tailored to returning farmers and rural migrants, such as professional agricultural manager training and new projects for young farmers. In the future, the county plans to strengthen agricultural competitiveness and lead first-class agriculture by promoting high value-added agricultural industry.

County Governor Kim Han-jong said, “The record of winning for four consecutive years is the result of the combined efforts of Jangseong residents, the county, companies, and institutions,” adding, “We will continue to invigorate the local economy by promoting specialized job policies.”
