The Gwangju-Wando Expressway project is scheduled to complete Phase 1 construction from Gwangju to Gangjin by 2024, and it is urgent to pass the preliminary feasibility study and reflect design costs for the Phase 2 section.
The Phase 2 project involves a total national budget of 1.5965 trillion KRW and covers a 37.5 km section from Jakcheon-myeon in Gangjin County, the terminus of Phase 1, to Namchang in Bukpyeong-myeon, Haenam County, including 3 access facilities, 30 bridges, and 8 tunnels.
Additionally, to actively respond to increased traffic demand due to improved accessibility from the opening of the Gwangju-Wando Expressway and the Sinan Aphae-Haenam Hwawon connecting road, he requested that the improvement of National Road No. 77 from Songji-myeon to Bukpyeong-myeon in Haenam and the four-lane expansion project from Yeongho-ri to Wolho-ri in Hwawon-myeon, Haenam County, be included in the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport’s higher-level 6th National Road and Local Road Construction Plan to ensure smooth progress.
He also actively requested support for Haenam County’s pending projects, including the carbon-neutral (green convergence) cluster creation project planned to be hosted in Solar City, Sanim-myeon, Haenam County.
