The scouts who visited Namwon the previous day arrived at Gwanghallu Garden and experienced wearing hanbok, feeding carp, and making traditional lucky pouches, fully immersing themselves in the charm of Namwon’s traditional culture while enjoying the beautiful scenery of Gwanghallu Garden.
Snacks such as aid made from Namwon’s representative one-food baekhyanggwa, ice cream, and popcorn were provided to the scouts tired from the heatwave, receiving great responses.
They also visited the National Gugak Center to participate in traditional cultural experiences such as learning Jindo Arirang, a traditional folk song, and Ganggangsullae, a traditional circle dance. The scouts could not hide their joy from these unique experiences that allowed them to feel Korean traditional culture.
Since the 2nd, the city has established an emergency response system in cooperation with the police and fire departments to ensure the safe participation of the visiting scouts in the programs. A total of 70 personnel, including 24 volunteers, 13 Namwon Scout members, 23 members of the Namwon Community Security Council, and 10 from the Replus project team, have been deployed to actively support the successful progress of the Jamboree event.
Lee Soon-taek, Vice Mayor of Namwon City, said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the volunteers who have worked hard for the successful hosting of the World Scout Jamboree amid the heatwave,” and added, “We will do our best to operate regional linkage programs so that this can be a good opportunity to promote Namwon to people around the world.”
