KT Obtains GMG Security Certification for Core Equipment of 5G Government Network
KT announced on the 3rd that the security device 'Government Mobile Gateway' (GMG), developed in collaboration with telecommunications equipment specialist Ariel Networks for the 5G Government Work Network project, has obtained the Common Criteria (CC) certification from the National Intelligence Service.
CC certification is an internationally recognized certification system in the field of information security. It verifies the reliability and stability of equipment and evaluates the level of protection to grant certification. With this certification, KT GMG can now provide 5G Government Work Network services more reliably to the Ministry of Science and ICT, which recently relocated to the Government Complex Sejong, as well as to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Korean Intellectual Property Office, and the Ministry of Personnel Management.
GMG, the core equipment of the 5G Government Work Network service, has the advantage of enabling highly secure and convenient government network access and use without going through a virtual private network (VPN). It was planned and designed by KT Convergence Technology Institute's Infrastructure DX Lab and jointly developed with Ariel Networks.
With the 5G Government Work Network equipped with GMG, the government work environment can be shifted from the existing wired communication network and desktop PCs to a combination of 5G wireless communication network and laptops. Therefore, an environment is created where government work can be performed without restrictions even during telecommuting, business trips, or while on the move.
KT is providing an innovative work environment service called 'MyOffice,' based on the technology applied to the 5G Government Work Network, to general enterprises. KT plans to continuously offer various digital transformation (DX) solutions utilizing the 5G wireless network to both public sector and corporate customers.
