Com2uS Records Operating Loss in Q2... Quarterly Revenue Hits Record High
Com2uS has recorded losses for three consecutive quarters.
On the 3rd, Com2uS announced that its sales for the second quarter of this year reached 228.3 billion KRW, with an operating loss of 5.6 billion KRW. Sales increased by 18.1% compared to the same period last year, marking the highest quarterly performance. However, operating profit recorded losses for three consecutive quarters. Nonetheless, the deficit narrowed compared to the previous quarter.
Com2uS explained that the record-high quarterly sales were driven by increased revenue from the game business, including the continued success of 'Summoners War: Sky Arena' and the baseball lineup, as well as the global launch of 'Summoners War: Chronicle,' along with improved performance in the media content business segment. The cumulative sales for the half-year also reached a record high of 421 billion KRW.
Operating profit on a separate basis was 6 billion KRW due to increased sales in the game business, but consolidated results showed a loss due to global marketing expenses related to existing hit titles and new releases, labor costs for strengthening game and new businesses, and subsidiary performance. However, the deficit decreased by more than 62% compared to the first quarter.
In the second half of this year, Com2uS plans to further enhance the performance of its core game business, strengthen competitiveness in new business sectors, and improve results through stabilization of overall costs. 'MLB 9 Innings Rivals,' released in July, continues to be popular in major markets including Japan, Korea, the United States, and Taiwan. New titles such as 'Zenonia,' 'Fishing God: Crew,' and 'Mini Game Heaven' have also received positive reviews for gameplay, leading to genre diversification and expansion of the user base.
The all-in-one metaverse 'Com2verse,' which took its first step by launching the community space SPAXE on the 1st, is expected to showcase Com2uS's metaverse services by expanding to convention centers and major partner services. The subsidiary WYSIWYG Studios will focus on releasing various new films and dramas, and MyMusicTaste plans to expand K-pop performances and related commerce businesses.

A Com2uS official stated, “Com2uS’s separate sales centered on the game business increased by more than 26% in the first half of this year compared to the previous year. We will continue the strong growth that broke through the stagnation period of the game business and strive to achieve even greater results in the future.” He added, “Also, as we have expanded the company size through external growth by investing in strengthening games and new businesses, we will further solidify our internal foundation by stabilizing overall costs and enhance competitiveness on the global stage to sustain long-term growth.”
